Erik Niemann
Artist Statement and Bio

My abstract paintings examine the relationship between what’s measurable and the ethereal.  I have a deep interest in architecture as well as the mysterious.

My works explore the beautiful tension that is created between these two seemingly contradictory worlds.  I bring these two worlds together in a rich, deep and beautiful way.

My paintings are acrylic on canvas, applied with metal tools.

Erik has been painting professionally since January 2002. Erik’s paintings are collected throughout 18 US states as well as Australia, Mexico, and Tunisia.

Between September 2008 and May 2010, three of Erik’s paintings were on display inside the United States Embassy in Dili, East Timor through the Art in Embassies program of the US State Department.

Erik has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas and also studied one year in Copenhagen, Denmark for study abroad, and a year at graduate school at the Architectural Association in London, England.
